A new horror game called Deadcam has been announced for PC, offering players a unique ’90s found-footage VHS camcorder aesthetic. The game, developed by solo creator Joure Visser, aims to deliver an immersive analog survival horror experience.

Visser, known for the game Don’t Scream, shared details about Deadcam, revealing that the game is designed to provide a series of chilling encounters through various files, each with its own setting, narrative, and gameplay mechanics. Deadcam, powered by Unreal Engine 5, features three different weapons in its first file: a katana, a shotgun, and a pistol, with each file designed to be completed in approximately an hour.

One of the unique aspects of Deadcam is its replayability, offering three different endings for players to uncover. However, only one of these endings will unlock the full 100% playback percentage, known as the ‘good’ ending. This adds depth to the gameplay experience and encourages players to explore different paths to reveal the complete story.

As players progress through the game, they will encounter retro UI elements that monitor haunted activity in the area, providing clues about the size and speed of nearby enemy mobs. This attention to detail enhances the immersion and tension, creating a truly atmospheric horror experience for players.

Deadcam is set to launch on Steam Early Access on June 23, starting with its first file inspired by J-horror, which unfolds in an eerie abandoned school setting. Throughout the Early Access period, four more files will be added, expanding the gameplay and story elements for players to delve into.
